Legends of DotA




Ever wondered what it would be like if you are goblin techies had Kardel's take aim, Lanaya's psi blade then use enchantress' impetus?

                                                        

or see your hero 1 shot the entire enemy team with  Raigor's enchant totem, Gondor's jinada and  Kunkka's tide bringer?

Then this is the game for you. Legend of DotA or LoD is a DotA mod map made by Lordshijo were you can pick which skills your hero can learn! You are still limited to 3 basic skills and 1 ultimate but you can basically create your own hero with almost all the skills of every hero in the game available for you.

Main game modes are:

-AP or All Pick All skills are available for you to choose.
-AR or All Random you are given a random set of skills.
-SD or Standard Draft You are given a set of heroes from where you can choose the skills that you want.
-MD or Modified Draft Similar to -SD

Additional game modes are:

-d2 Provides a choice of 20 heroes.
-d3 Provides a choice of 30 heroes.
-d4 only works with "sd" or "md" Provides a choice of 40 heroes.
-d5 Provides a choice of 50 heroes.
-s5 allows you to pick 5 skills.
-s6 allows you to pick 6 skills (1 extra ultimate and 1 extra normal ability).
-ra Random Abilities, the extra abilities from s5 & s6 are chosen randomly.
-fn Fast Neutrals, first neutrals spawn already after drafting, then 30 seconds after, then the normal 1 minute spawn
-ss See Skills, allows you to see the enemy skills while drafting as well
-ab Anti Backdoor
-ul Unlimited Level
-os One Skill, skills can't be picked twice on each side
-ls Limit Skills, you cannot have more than 2 passive skills and more than 2 skills from a single hero

Ingame Commands:

-SI (Skill Inventory) shows what the skills you allies took.
-II (Item Inventory) shows what items your allies have.
-FF (Fast Finish)
-WFF (Who FF'd)
-SP #(Toggle passive skill display, # is the skill's place number while drafting)
-SDDON/-SDDOFF (System Display Damage)
-ADDTIME (Adds 1 minute to the clock when picking skills, can be entered at most once)
-READY (During the skill picking phase, chooses your remaining skills randomly)


Some spells are nerffed to give balance to the game:


*The silence from Last Word lasts only 0.75/1/1.25/1.5s.
*Multicast chances reduced x2 by 7%/3.5%/0%, x3 by 7%/3.5%, x4 by 7%
*Rearm has a 15/10/5 hidden cooldown after refreshing before being able to refresh again
*Feast only regenerates/deals 1/2/3/4% HP on ranged heroes.
*Greater Bash only has a 10% proc chance on ranged heroes.
*Dispersion disperses only 6/8/10/12% damage on STR heroes and heroes morphed from a STR metamorphosis.
*Essence Shift only works on half the attacks for ranged heroes.
*Spell with a cooldown less than or equal to 3s can not proc Aftershock, Fiery Soul, Static Field, Warpath, Overload (except if they originally could proc the spell).

DotA v6.75 is released




At a glance, here are my thoughts on the latest DotA version, 6.75:


* Goblin Shredder added to Captain's Mode
* Skywrath Mage added to Captain's Mode
  • We finally get to see some action on Goblin Shredder and Skywrath Mage in competitive plays. With GS great mobility and SM insane DPS I’m sure both will make a great impact on the –cm rouster.
* Captain's Mode first ban phase now has 2 bans instead of 3
* Captain's Mode second ban phase now has 3 bans instead of 2
  • You can now only make 2 bans in the first ban phase instead of 3 couple this with buffs on several carries as well nerf on wooders we will be expecting a lot more bans on the latter. Although the first ban phase has always been a personal choice at least we get to see more strategic counter banning.
* Glyph duration increased from 4 to 5 seconds
  • Not really a big deal but the extra second means a lot more excitement to tower defending.
* Enraged Wildkin's Tornado vision decreased from 1200/800 to 300
  • Tornado is a great skill used for both pushing creeps near the enemy tower and checking for incoming enemy heroes to defend it. Now without the vision tower pushing is now riskier.
* Aegis reclaim time decreased from 10 to 6 minutes
  • This would mean less turtling for the aegis carrier. Making a big push on the last minute of the aegis reclaim, dying and then getting another aegis when roshan respawns.  
* Team AoE bounty for kills with 2 heroes around changed from 9*Level+95 to 12*Level + 125
* Team AoE bounty for kills with 3 heroes around changed from 8*Level+20 to 10*Level+40
* Killer bounty level multiplier increased from 200+5*Level to 200+9*Level
  • Hopefully the push needed to shift the meta to a more ganking oriented game play. We will be expecting a faster pacing and transition of the early game lane-ing phase and a obviously great deal more ganks.         
* Total XP required for level 7 decreased from 2700 to 2600
* Total XP required for level 8 decreased from 3500 to 3200
  • This focuses a lot who has the better ult in the mid lane. Netting a kill pass level 6 on an opposing mid hero would result in a higher level gap.
* Added a 1 second cooldown to placing Observer and Sentry wards (to help prevent accidental usage when lagging)
  • This is great actually I play matches online often where lags are unavoidable.
* Roshan turn rate increased to fix some abuses
  • This will hopefully fix the morph abuse


As for various nerfs, buffs and remakes on heroes and items I will discuss them fully once the final patch is out. The 2 new heroes and the new item I will also be discussing after the final patch on their own separate blog post.

DotA 6.75 Coming Soon

Brace yourselves DotA 6.75! 


We just got a rare reply frog Icefrog himself that he will be releasing DotA 6.75 by the end of the month. The reply was made on September 19, 2012 so we will probably be expecting 6.75 sometime this week. It has been 6 months since the release of 6.74 yet no word about 6.75 has been release. Now with the recent success DotA 2 International 2 as well as several updates on the DotA 2 players are wondering: will Icefrog still continue to update the original MOBA game?

We even got news that a leak beta version of 6.75 was released showing a lot of changes most notably a new hero: Frost Wyrm



and a new location for roshan as seen here:

These patch notes are from Beta 17 but the current beta has reached version 34.

Experimental adjustment to roshan area (will probably need a lot of tweaking, if we even do it)

Blood Bath enemy hero aoe death detection increased from 225 to 325
* Chilling Touch no longer reduces attack speed, duration reduced from 40 to 30 seconds
Double Edge does its damage in a 175 aoe around the target

Now weather or not the leak beta version is legit one thing is certain Icefrog still has a lot of plans in store for DotA and we will know this soon enough. 

DotA 6.75 Loading Screen

The anticipation is killing me as I get yet another teaser for the up and coming DotA 6.75. This time with a new Loading Screen:




As was previously stated Icefrog will be focusing on content remake on this patch. Most probably on the much debated Roshan location. There was no mention of a new hero so we may not see the rumored Frost Wyrm after all. Either way I hope we may finally have a break on the Lane Pushing Strategy (LTS) that has been so dominant in today's meta. The text in the artworks are as follows:
